Someone other than the criminal has information that can solve a Crime, that’s why community involvement is so important.
A board of directors oversees Crimestoppers which is made up of community members, business members, and organization/club members. These individuals meet to approve reward allocations based on information provided by individual’s reference a crime committed. How the process works.
Any individual reporting information through Crimestoppers is given a number for that incident and that is how it is addressed for the future reference and payout process.
Cash rewards are payable to any person whose information leads directly to the arrest and/or conviction of an offender. Rewards are offered automatically upon the conviction of many crimes such as drugs, recovery of stolen property, and certain misdemeanors.
Crimestoppers has helped police solve felony cases and aided in burglaries, damage to property, among many other.
Crimestoppers works with every Police Department in Calumet County including surrounding counties by forwarding information.
Crimestoppers members are also available for presentations to groups and organizations to explain the program.
Volunteers for this program are how Crimestoppers is able to be so successful in solving many of the crimes committed throughout the county. This program meets four times a year except for special occasions. We are always looking for fresh ideas for continued success and county wide advertising.
